Our first salad!

it was bitter! I do not know why? Does it have to be "ripe"?

    Some lettuces like kale are naturally bitter. Others will be bitter (or more bitter) if they are not fully ripe. Lettuces LOVE cooler weather! I wondered how they'd do here in Vegas.
