Very sad...

We captured the enemy but we were going to keep them alive and watch them turn into butterflies but.... the container got too hot and humid and they died. One was in a separate container and it is the only one still alive. We hope that we can keep him alive on sweet potato leaves so he can become a butterfly. ( I just looked at him and he died)
I was very happy that my children were not too upset that they died. We have had a lot of deaths around us so it is a sensitive subject. This just showed me that they are learning how to process death. I am very grateful that they have learned from tragic experiences, it makes it worth it.
In some good news we have planted some new seeds! I have been thinking about the weather and a lot of our plants did not do good because of the heat. Next year I will look more into the seeds I plant. This winter it will be cooler with hardly any frost so we are going to grow more and see how it works. I am using egg cartons to sprout our seeds and and then we will put them in the garden, it is working well. We planted green beans, brussels sprouts, cabbage, zucchini (I know it is a summer squash but I want to see how it will do), spinach, and some more carrots.
It would be great if we could have a garden all year long! It is great to just walk outside and get vegetables from our back yard.

We have captured the enemy!

I noticed a last week my tomato plants looked kind of bare but I did not think about it again. That is until I found one "little" caterpiller he was so cute and fat! My friend told me her plants were destroyed by the same little guys last year. So we checked our plants this morning and found 7 MORE CATERPILLARS!!! We will keep checking for them and I hope the plants bounce back.
